Introduction to Ansys Sherlock – Hands-on Workshop

Learn how to use Ansys Sherlock to enhance the reliability of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) under real-world environmental conditions.

ABOUT THIS WEBINAR:

In this workshop, we will explore how simulation can help predict failures due to thermal cycling, mechanical shock, and random vibration, enabling better design and validation.

By the end of this session, you will have a practical understanding of how to improve PCB reliability using simulation tools, reduce design risks, and enhance product durability.

DATE: May 13th, 2025

TIME: 11 PM – 1PM EST

LOCATION: Virtual

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  • Get started with Ansys Sherlock – learn the basics and key capabilities
  • Pre-processing – import and prepare PCB data, using ECAD files, parts, stackup, and materials
  • PCB modeling strategies – uniform, layered, trace mapping, trace reinforcement / embedded elements, trace modelling reliability goal, phase and event definition
  • Model and analysis setup
  • Running analyses – perform thermal cycling, vibration, and fatigue tests to predict time to failure
  • Post-processing – reliability predictions and other results
  • Leverage high-fidelity models – address common failure mechanisms such as solder fatigue and trace cracking
  • Perform system-level analyses with Ansys Sherlock and Ansys Mechanical
